Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Moviefy: Tamil Movie Quiz ("Moviefy", "we", "us") collects when you use our Android app, iOS app and website at moviefy.in, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. You can play without an account

You can start playing straight away as a guest. A guest profile only holds your game progress and contains no name, email address or other personal details.

2. Information you give us

If you create an account, we store:

• Username, display name and email address, used to sign you in, show your name on the leaderboard and contact you about your account.
• Password, stored only as a secure one-way hash. We never see or store your actual password.
• Optional profile details: gender, place and a profile picture, only if you choose to add them.

3. Information collected as you play

• Game activity: the puzzles you play, your guesses, scores, streaks and rankings, so we can save your progress and run the leaderboard.
• Device type: whether you played on Android, iOS or the web, and the app version, so we can support each platform and prompt you about updates.
• Usage and diagnostics: how features are used (for example, a game started or a result shared) and technical information about errors, collected through Google Firebase Analytics.
• Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a token from your device is registered with OneSignal so we can send the daily puzzle reminder. It is linked to your Moviefy profile ID.
• Advertising ID: when ads are shown, Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier, IP address and device information to show and measure ads.
• Security logs: our servers record IP addresses for a limited period to protect the service from abuse.

Moviefy never asks for or uses your device's GPS location. Google AdMob may estimate your general area (such as your city or country) from your IP address to show relevant ads. We do not collect your contacts, photos (other than a profile picture you choose to upload), messages or payment information.

4. How we use information

• To run the daily Tamil movie and actor puzzles, save your progress and show the leaderboard.
• To keep your account secure and prevent cheating and abuse.
• To send optional reminders about new puzzles.
• To understand how the app is used and fix problems.
• To show advertising that keeps Moviefy free.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Service providers we share data with

• Google AdMob: advertising (Google's ad policy).
• Google Firebase Analytics: app analytics (Google Privacy Policy).
• OneSignal: push notifications (OneSignal Privacy Policy).
• TMDB: movie and actor images and information. No personal data is sent to TMDB.

Your display name, score and streak appear on the public leaderboard. Your email address is never shown to other players.

6. Security

All data between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can be completely secure.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep your account and game history while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time: in the app, open Profile & account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, profile details, streak, scores and game history straight away. You can also email us to ask for deletion. See how to delete your account for details.

8. Your choices

• Turn notifications off in the app's Settings or in your device settings.
• Reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device settings. On iOS, the app asks your permission before tracking.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected].

9. Children

Moviefy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
